Of course you can wear a little black dress to the beach

2017 is going to be the year of location photo shoots. This wonderful afternoon was spent with Makeup Artist Renee Jeffs and Janelle.

Inspired by the little black dress idea on the beach we went for a darker eye makeup and glowing skin.  A natural lip.  Janelle’s hair we left it natural as it was going to be dipped in salt water and sand.

The first stop was in front of a big green hedge, and of course I was wearing the thongs and was bitten by a big ant before we even started.  Shoes next time, I swear.  Then we made our way to the Tannum Sands.  One camera and one lens, the 135mm lens.  I wanted to keep it simple.  For me that was a real struggle trying to keep it simple, as I would have loved to used a strobe.   That concept will be the next shoot.

Thank you to both girls especially Janelle as she has never modeled in a photo shoot before.  Absolute natural and thankfully a beach girl.

Oh and I will be attempting to shoot more behind the scenes videos of shoots as well.

Editing I wanted to achieve warm gold tones on the beach in the afternoon light.  Then switching it up to green dark blue tones when in the water.

The dress in the photo below cost me $5 at the op shop.  I had sent a photo to Renee and we decided to pair it with her gorgeous necklace.    Nina K Photography, makeup artist, afternoon at the beachNina K Photography, makeup artist photographerAt this point the sun was setting fast and iso was up over 1000 at 2.  I do love a bit of grain in my work.
